Speaking of Halloween...

Tim-tastic!

Is it weird that Tim Burton makes me laugh? Because that was funny. And I heart TB. And not tuberculosis. I can't imagine I would heart it, at least. But we haven't met.

Oooooooooooh.... Scary!

Happy Halloween!

And a fond fairwell to my favorite month of the year. I'll be seeing it out while glued to my couch watching crappy movies. I frakking love Halloween.

And also, I have developed the ability to remember the future very clearly. I remember going to see Saw III with my roommate on Halloween 2006. I remember it kicking ass.

I also remember giving my roommate credit for pointing out the Foxtrot. Oh look! It just happened! See! I *can* remember the future!

Blogger hates me today. This is just a test. Ignore me.

And come over tonight! Woohoo! I promise to try not to gash my hand open this year. Yeah real blood!

Apparently the Prius has been added as a game piece to a new "updated" version of Monopoly. Wow, what a progressive move, right? Oh wait... the Prius will be accompanied by McDonald's French Fries? Really?

Someone come clean my apartment before tomorrow night. Unless all our crap makes it look creepy.

Just a reminder about the Halloweenish party this weekend. Saturday, 8ish, our place.

Dress up. Drink up. You know the routine.

To Nile, the cat: "Mice eat cheese. Not cats."

You're right. Mice don't eat cats. We're glad you cleared that up.

Now help me decide on a Halloween costume for Saturday. Thanks.

If I'm MIA for a few days, it's because I'm in Iowa.

If I'm not MIA for a few days it's because my beautiful new laptop is coming with me.

Also, keep next Saturday (the 28th) open for a Halloweenish Party. You've been warned.

Getting a good cut & color is almost better than buying new shoes. Too bad I don't have anything even remotely resembling a digital camera at my disposal at the moment. Because I'm adorable.

But you knew that.

So if you really want to know if I took Jess's suggestion (Slut Red) or Jon's (maize and blue), you'll just have to actually hang out with me, I guess, won't you?

Hooray!!!!

Welcome to the family, Galactic Command II. I have *such* a beautiful new laptop under my fingertips... yeah!!!!

Getting settled in a new computer is kind of fun, but kind of a big pain in the ass. Thankfully, I am lucky enough to have the most indescribably awesome roommate who cannot possibly understand how much I appreciate him and his unwavering willingness, often eagerness, to help me out. "Mister Brilliant" totally came through for me and with any luck he may even be able to help me extract a bit of data from the hopefully not TOO dead Galactic Command I. That will make the whole "moving in to a new computer" thing suck sooooooooooooo much less.

It still makes me a little sick to my stomach to think about all the files, passwords, pictures, playlists, bookmarks, etc. that I may just never see again. I'm just trying not to think about Outlook at all... lost calendar, contacts, notes, mail... *sobs*

But, on the bright side, I can now use the external drive I just acquired for all my music as a back-up instead since my music will *totally* fit on this beast. And now that I've learned that valuable lesson about backing my important stuff up, we can all go on with our lives.

(just thought of the year's worth of pictures that never quite made it from my laptop to my web page. *choke*)

Also, I get a full week away from the store! Wednesday - Wednesday! With any luck I'll be seeing a show at Temple Thursday night, heading to Iowa for a few days, and de-stressing a little (read: stressing out more because I'm not able to micromanage for a week).

And another thing.... Where the hell is Nightmare before Christmas and why the hell is it not in its case where it belongs? wtf? hrmpf.

Also, spellcheck thinks maybe micromanage should really be necromancer. That is all.

Many appologies for being MIA so long. As you may or may not have heard, my laptop died on me. I'm trying not to think about it because the thought of recovering all that data makes me a little nauseated.

I do, however, have a new laptop on the way. And I have a lot more time on my hands while being incommunicato. For instance, yesterday I got a flat tire fixed, went grocery shopping, did laundry, baked brownies (from a box), baked bread (from grandma's secret recipe), made my infamous beer cheese soup (from scratch), cleaned and mopped the kitchen and knit about the first foot of a scarf.

Today I was slightly less productive. But only slightly.

Tomorrow is one of my favorite days ever. Friday the 13th in October. It's the best. I took the evening off, figuring there will be a slew of good slasher flicks on TV. That is just how exciting my Friday nights are.

Anyway, I just wanted you guys to know I am alive. I have not been buried in a snow drift, and I still want to go to Oktoberfest Saturday evening if any of you want to go. Don't make me go by myself!

Coffee Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.

My 5 favorite words...

Ah!

So, a week from Saturday is a belated Oktoberfest celebration in Old Town. I think we all know that Old Town puts on some damn good beer-related celebrations, so I recommend that you gather everyone you know and get down there.

I have to work til about 5 that day, but I'll see what I can do about even getting out earlier. Otherwise from about 5:30 until someone carries me home, I will so be there. Anyone who wants to go can park at my place and walk over. It's only about a mile away down the river trail.

Let me know if you're interested, and thanks to bwil for the heads up!

So, we've all learned a valuable lesson today. You can be lazy all summer and register for your races on race day and pay $5 extra and get ugly t-shirts you'll never really wear and the use of a timing chip so you know just how slow you are. Until of course there comes along a race which offers you a fantastic t-shirt you really want. Then they will run out of both chips and t-shirts before you ever hit the registration line, making you question whether or not you should even pay the registration fee or just run amongst a crowd of sweaty strangers for free.

*sigh*

We've also learned that if I start a race in a bad mood I will be in a bad mood for the next approximately 38 minutes. For approximately 38 minutes I will come up with excuses for why I am running so far off pace. (It's too cold, AND too humid and my lungs hurt. Because it's so cold I wore long sleeves and pants and I'm not used to it and it feels weird. Now I'm too hot. There are more hills than I'm used to. Race walkers scare me. My shoe is tied too loosely. Everyone else is wearing t-shirts with a Parasaurolophus in running shoes. My tummy hurts. I have to go to the bathroom. Are we there yet?)

I say "approximately" 38 minutes because, not only did they run out of t-shirts and timing chips, but the time clock at the start/finish line wasn't set correctly by the time I crossed to start so, other than my ipod, I had no real way to time myself. I usually just subtract the time that lapses before I cross the start line from my finishing time, but today I had no such time, so I had to approximate using my ipod clock, though in retrospect, I think my ipod has a timer function which I may have to look into later. Also, when I bust ass over that finish line all I want in the world is for everyone to get the *beep* out of my way and hand me an ice cold bottle of water. Is that so much to ask? Instead of lining up chairs along the edge of the course just past the finish line so volunteers can remove runners' chips from their shoes, they just had people standing around in the middle area, blocking the path completely and when you did fight your way pantingly through the crowd you were rewarded with a dixie cup full of room tempature water. blech.

There were no water bottles to be found And Panera ran out of bagels. What the hell? Do these people really think I'm spending $30 on a donation for the MSU Museum? No. I'm spending $30 on a T-shirt with a Parasaurolophus in running shoes on it, accurate and thought-free race timing, and a post-race breakfast consisting of no less than a bottle of water, a banana, and a bagel. Ok, in fairness... I did get a banana. (Jeff, are you taking notes for Mystic's run next year?) This whole post is cracking me up. I'm such a primadonna. And clearly running gets me all amped up. You don't want to be on the bad side of that when it happens.

The good news is, I finished yet another race. Also that they may run a second printing of the Parasaurolophus Ts so I may still get one. Also, they had dorky Parasaurolophus (non-hooded = BOOray) sweatshirts for sale for $10 so I go one because I felt like it, so there.

I mean, come on. That's adorable. (And a little terrifying... but he eats plants. I am not a plant. I am not a plant...)
