So, some things of note:

I must have voted for Pedro, because all of my wildest dreams have come true. Or at least the one about hanging out in the bongo habitat, having a bongo walk right up to me (so big!) and getting to pet her while she eats apple slices out of my hand. She likes to be scratched right behind the horns, which are MIGHTY intimidating, I might add. And she likes to lick the apple juice off your hand with her big blue tongue. So great!

Also this week, I had a glimpse into my own personal hell: I am a part of a team of 5 people who were each given some puzzle pieces. The object is for each of the 5 people to create a square out of pieces, most likely out of a couple of their own & a couple from another team member. No one can talk or gesture, other than to offer one of your pieces to someone else. HELL! A) Like I'm going to last an entire excersize without talking. B) I could see all 5 squares the second the pieces hit the table, despite the fact that the pieces were all spread out amongst the group, yet I couldn't say anything and had to sit in painful agony watching them fuss hopelessly with the pieces. My DM did, however, compliment me on my strategy of offering up my completed square in exchange for someone elses random pieces so I could put them together for her and lead our team to victory.

In other news, today I was mauled by an armadillo. I'm serious. Much pain. But I won't tell you the whole story because then MB will read it and he doesn't want to hear my armadillo story. So if you want to know, ask.

Additionally, I'm an ass. When will I learn to turn my damn headlights off? Ugh. Fortunately I had a knight in shining armor (complete with doberman!) show up to save the day (Thank you thank you thank you!!!). Then I was kidnapped and taken to his castle in a distant land to pick through paint chips in an effort to find the perfect color for the dining room wall.

And, finally, while waiting for the knight I called a lucky someone to keep me company while I waited, and after leaving a voice mail I was later berated for only calling because I was bored and wanted company. Moments later, a thoughtful someone else, after having received my pitiful txt msg about my sorry situation, called for the express purpose of making sure I wasn't dead and keeping me company while I waited. How thoughtful, indeed. Also, I'm starting an official list of guys to call when I need a jump... because I run my battery out so much. Though you can sign up for the "other" list too... just in case.

And I'm spent.

When it comes to relationships, I think one very important criteria is "How long can I endure this person?". For example, do I want to kill myself 30 seconds into a phone conversation with this person? Or, after a couple hours of great fun am I consistently reduced to tears around this person? How about, around this person can I relax and be myself or do I always feel like I'm putting on a show?

The truth is, no matter how much I like someone or they like me, I just don't have the endurance to truly tolerate most people for extended periods of time. I've lately put a lot of thought into this notion and am currently collecting empirical data. If you hang out with me and notice me drifting off into the realms of scientific analysis, rest assured I'm only comparing you to everyone else I know.

I just want some one to say to me
I'll always be there when you wake

Oh, not that mood again. Too much intelligent conversation and a couple black & tans will do that to me everytime. Good thing I have the energy to "enjoy" the mood for about 3 more minutes before I fall asleep.

For those of you who need an itinerary, here are my weekend plans:

I'll be educating the squealy masses at the zoo this morning. Feel free to come. You'll find me near my most favorite ungulates.

I then intend to spend some time updating the "What's New at the Zoo?" bulletin board. Should someone desire an "adventure" to save me and bring me back to the world of... I digress. I'll be by the kiosk. Or in the education center on the computer.

At some point before 6pm I will be dropping off a donation to Creation Station. This shouldn't take long, but if you need me I will actually be in posession of my cell phone. You know the number.

I will be working until 5:30 on Friday. People who actually are interested in seeing me tend to find me there often. In fact, one friend in particular has stopped by more than once in the recent past, leading me to believe it is actually possible to track me down.

As of yet my Friday night is free. I repeat: I have no plans Friday night. This means, should you be looking for me, I will be at home. Alternately, if you call me, I'll be available to do something.

Saturday morning I will be dragging a llama through the downtown streets for the Something Michigan Blah Blah parade. Granted, I am unsure of the exact parade route. But it's a parade. How hard can it be to find? I'll be the girl with the llama. This may make me hard to spot, as we're probably equally likely to spit at you.

Then, with any luck I will be wasting the day away at the EL Art Festival, perhaps concluding the evening with some sangria. Again, I will have my phone in tow. At this point I forsee myself being unaccompanied, so if you'd like to prevent me from drowning in sangira solo... Feel free to "go out of your way" to track me down.

I intend to spend Sunday much the same as I spent Saturday. Sangria, art, and if I should be so lucky, the company of people who can be bothered to contact me as opposed to berate me when I contact them.

I hope this was helpful. If so, I would be happy to provide such an itinerary going forward.

When did I become so hardcore?

This evening, after 8 hours on my feet, I ran my 2nd 5k race. I'm not sure if any of you were paying attention, but it was like 45 degrees and rainy. All day. I have cramps in places I didn't know I had muscles and I may be hypothermic. Too bad Brian is in Iowa. He knows some trick for curing hypothermia.

The bad thing about running a race like this in such conditions: Only the diehards come out. Unlike the 4,000 participant Race for the Cure, tonight I DOUBT there were 100 runners and walkers. VERY few walkers, by the way. So, the point is, I am 99% sure I was the last person to cross the finish line that actually "ran" the whole race. (ok, it was a jog... though even after your entry level kinesiology class, I'm not really sure I know the difference)

The good news is, I ran the whole race. And, the good thing about running in such weather: I run fast. (For me) I must have really wanted to get it over with because I beat my Race for the Cure time by a solid 2 minutes and 10 seconds! That's a lot of time to shave off a 3.1 mile race. My first mile was about 11:40 which I dare say is some sort of record. That's almost my 2 minutes right there. My second mile was about the same pace, making my final mile about 13 minutes which is pretty normal for me. I am pretty confident that if the weather were better (the last stretch of the race was over a wooden bridge - too slippery to really sprint) I would have shaved even more time off. Also, the last 100 yards or so of the course were ridiculus. First the bridge, then a wicked sharp corner, then down way too steep of a hill to be sprinting so fast... IN THE RAIN. Because of the turns, you couldn't see where the finish even was until you should have already been kicking. Not that I have much kick... but I do have a little.

Anyway, listen to me, officially initiated as "one of the diehards", complaining about my personal record race time and things that were incomprehensible to me a month ago, like course layout. If only I could get through a race without developing a migrane.

I wish the weather had been better so there had been a bigger turnout. Of the many races I plan to participate in this summer, this one supports the cause nearest and dearest to my heart. I was happy to dash through the rain for the Lansing YMCA's Invest In Youth campaign.

Now... off to lounge around in my new softestthingyouhaveevertouched robe while rewatching some BSG or something. Send my head non-achey vibes, please.

I don't really have anything to say. I just wanted to post that bumper sticker.

Speaking of nothing to say... apparently I never shut up, or just have an opinion on everything, because I just really haven't had much to say all day and I have been called out on it by like 5 people. My meeting at work ended half an hour early because I just didn't have anything to say. The ladies were in shock. Shock and awe.

Oh well.

Funny how the more I have on my mind, the less I have to say. But I'm funny. And I have NASA TV. Don't ask.

Something about knowing you are making a mistake but just having to make the mistake anyway. And using the word mistake a lot. And eating steak.

Yeah. You know what I mean.

Anyway, yesterday I ran 4 miles in record time and then was unable to move the rest of the night. Today I went for a hike around the nature center with that little monster, Dirtbike, in order to break in my "new best friends", aka: hiking boots.

I also went grocery shopping which is often the highlight of my day off. Especially when I also accidentlaly buy a couple tank tops that I do NOT need. I'm going to have to stop that if I ever want to get out of this basement.

And while grocery shopping was fun, it was hardly the highlight of my day. I got to eat steak. And read. And play with a dog that does not suck at all, let alone as much as Dirtbike. And I got to play nice. And east chocolate! That's way better than playing not nice. But not as good as playing doctor.

What?

I'm so off red wine. I only had like 2 glasses. Though I did NOT see those 2 glasses being poured. hrmm....

Anyway, maybe now I'll actually do laundry like I have been threatening to do for a week. Because it won't happen tomorrow. I have a hot date with my dad and then a doberman. And I am already regretting that phrasing because MB is now going to harass me even though we all know I am neither dating my dad nor a doberman.

Hero: I couldn't think of the name of a coffee chain today because Starbuck is a pilot. Surely Starbucks wasn't right. Battlestar Galactica made me second guess common knowledge.
Grifter: I used to do the same thing with Norm McDonald.
Hero: You're mocking me, aren't you?

So... this is a cool shirt. But it is out of print. They only print limited runs.

But...

They'll reprint it if enough people vote for it. So, if you love me... vote, please. You can imagine the letters stretched across my rack if you want, but I'm not posting another titty collage. However... If you all vote and they DO reprint it, I'll make sure you don't have to use your imagination to visualize those letters stretched across my rack.

Thank you!
