Much thanks to the exceedingly talented recommendation expert, MB, I have descovered a couple new favorite movies.I know I'd like Zathura from the moment I saw the first preview, but never did manage to see it in the theater. I never saw Jumanji, but space toys! How can you not love space toys!? The second the opening credits started in all their retro-futuristic illustrated glory... I knew it would be a hit with me. And it was. Such a great flick, for kids and spacey kids at heart alike. And lastly, Mirrormask, which I had never heard of... quite why I am not sure. If you know me at all you know I adore anything with the name Henson stamped on it, and well... MB knows me, (and had to be forced to sit through The Dark Crystal with me) so he knew I would enjoy this flick as well. Holy crap. It was like The Neverending Story meets James and The Giant Peach with a smidgeon of Dark Crystal thrown in for good measure... all tossed in a blender with a bit of Paper House, a pinch of the Wizard of Oz, and 2 scoops of acid. Delightful. Absolutely delightful. Now that we know he was successful, we're about to find out how successful the Ambiguously Gay Duo are. Rent is on deck for this afternoon, and I don't think I'll be able to watch the opening without laughing a little at Bwil and JT.

I'm just going to ignore what's going on in the comments of the previous post and share with you some good news, and some bad news. The good: After 4 weeks I have lost 15 lbs., 4% body fat, and a total of 8 inches. I'd like to thank my team of personal trainers: Debbie, Bwil, JT, and Hilly. Oh! And, having never run ONE mile in my entire life, today I managed to jog not one... but TWO. Good for me. Tomorrow I'm celebrating here. The bad: The Detroit Zoo may ave to close. That's uncool. I don't really understand the ins and outs of it, because every article I have read seems to say voting for the proposal in question would be a win-win, for the city and the zoo, and voting against was a lose-lose. Yet the proposal was rejected. If you haven't been to the zoo, you should go. It's a great facility and a real gem for the whole state, not just Detroit. If you'd like to do something about it, here is somewhere small to start.

I've said it a million times. I'm a Spartan Basketball fan and Hawkeye football fan. But Let's just say I'm not too broken up about last night's game. How sweet that my two Big Ten loves got to meet on Valentine's Day. At least it wasn't a massacre (like it was in EL! ha!)

If Buzz Lightyear were going to spend too much money on a pair of stylish athletic shoes as a reward for his diligent gym-going and healthy eating...![]() ...he would surely buy these beauties. None of the pics I could find online did the silver justice. The pic makes them almost look white. They are not white. They are not grey. They are silver. And it's kind of a textured silver so it looks like brushed aluminum. *heart* Have you seen Punch Drunk Love? I'm such a Lena Leonard. Someone has to adore the crazies.

Ok, so Happy Birthday to me!I had such an awesome birthday! Thank you so much to all of you who came! I'm sorry I didn't have more time to spend with each of you, but it was so great to see all those friendly faces, especially those I don't get to see often. And proving I have the most thoughtful friends and family EVER, I got to walk away with goodies like: A phone call from Iowa allowing me to relive the last hour of my 20s A truly Science-tastic book A couple truly geek-tastic books Some beautiful, and truly handy, handycrafts A few very funny ecards from far and wide A much sought after lucky-charm-to-be A towel, because no good hitchhiker should go without Pixar stock, including one of the last certificates signed by Steve-o himself! A gorgeous necklace that makes my eyes look bluer than blue A magic plant that says, "Let's Party!" Lunch with the mystery sister Thoughts that count, such as plastic bongos and really sweet pictures. A flatiron so I can always be so sleek and sexy Fond memories of an wonderful evening with most of my very favorite people ![]() Oh, and because I love myself very, very much... Envy my birthday present from ME! (Many, many apologies if I have left anyone out. I'm sure my list is incomplete.) Also, thanks to my mentor for helping me usher in my 30s with syle and grace. Or at least showing me what NOT to do. Thanks for making the trip!

I'm behind. This one has been in the works for a few weeks now, so I'll start with this, and with any luck you'll have a post-birthday wrap up post... eventually. In the meantime, all I really have are some tunes that have been hittin' the pod pretty hard: If Brian's computer were not hunting squirrels in Tennessee right now, I'd toss our favorite Olympic related quote up there for you too... but alas, it wasn't to be. Maybe before the games conclude. *edit* In the name of giving credit to people who whine if you don't... Thanks, MB for helping my find the Olympic tune. You rule. We'd be lost without you. Thank you for sharing your incredible gift with us. We're truly not worthy. (rolls eyes)

Anyone know where my work keys are? That would sure make it easier for me to open my store. I've seriously torn my entire house apart. This makes me very unhappy. No way to start off a 12 hour work day.

Two promotions in one week! Nice! Here and here. Almost makes up for the fact that somebody did away with his external links altogether. hrmmm.... You know who you are. And I'm still just ignoring the fact that my best friend has Northwest Airlines linked and not me. And enough with the link talk. What am I? 13?

And speaking of birthdays... here's the obligatory desperate plea for goodies in the form a link to my amazon wishlist. Those of you who can't be bothered to give me the gift of your presense at my Birthday Dinner can consider their conscience cleared by placing an order. There is, of course, one other option. You could adopt a bongo for me. Nothing would make me happier than to have a bongo of my very own! You have a week. Go forth and buy presents!
