the good news is: i have secured a ticket for the final four games.
the bad news is: i don't have big enough scissors to cut through all the friggin red tape to actually get the ticket.

the plan: cry until they give it to me. i am certain this will work.

this is something i intend to check out while visiting minneapolis this weekend.

my car is my most prized posession. my little 'tempo of doom' is by no means a fancy car but without it i would die. D I E. it takes me everywhere. and sometimes you just have to GO. ya know?

my car has been sick but it went to the doctor for a few days and i missed it SOSOSOSO much, but he's home now and feeling much much better.

here are some places my car has been in the last three years (since i got him):

milwaukee, wisconsin
st. petersburg, florida
indianapolis, indiana
orlando, florida
iowa city, iowa
orlando, florida (again)
chicago, illinois
milwaukee, wisconsin (again)
iowa city, iowa (again)
niagra falls (canadian & us sides)
columbus, ohio (a few times)

i'm sure i'm forgetting some stuff. but you get the idea.

hotel, schmotel. maybe i should just look for some vacancies in wisconsin. you'd think half the country was flocking to minneapolis for some reason... oh wait. they are. huh.

actually i finally found a nice little super 8 motel just outside of minneapolis. that will have to do.

unfortunately the lottery gods were not in my favor this year and all of my friends got final four tickets... but alas, i did not. boo. it's cool though. i'm still going, of course. i'm trying to convince B to come up to minnesota for the weekend to watch the saturday night games with me. (come on, bri... you know you want to go )

anyway... GO STATE!

and then there were four. and we're one of them, baby!!!

minneapolis, here i come.

i think my bloghop rating code stopped working. see over there to the left where it says, 'rate this page'? be a doll and click on the little dark green () box for me. does it take you to the ratings page? or the bloghop home? or just leave you here?

yeah for road trips!

about the only thing that keeps me going these days is looking forward to the next chance to hit the road and see new people and places.

i'm psyched because i have excitement tentatively planned for the next FOUR weekends in a row! very cool.

first up: a 'lunch date' with everyone's favorite brian in chicago on friday. (i shouldn't say date since he is afterall, secretly in love with me...) it is going to be a very sad day when i no longer have the time, etc. to take off for wonderful weekly lunch dates in whatever random city i choose.

Bobby Knight, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Indiana University flag in the window.

"This house is yours for eternity, Bob," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."

Bob felt special indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a bright Green and White sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole flying an enormous Michigan State flag, and in every window, a Spartan logo. In the front yard was a sign that said "Welcome to the Izzone".

Bob looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I won three national championships, more Big Ten titles than I can remember and I am the winningest coach in IU basketball history."

God said "so what do you want to know, Bob?"

"Well, why does Tom Izzo get a better house than me?"

God chuckled, and said "Bob, that's not Tom's house .........it's mine."

oh, girl! amber was crackin me up so i had to give her some linky love. if you can handle the long loading graphics and all that you have to read what this girl has to say. march 19 is my personal favorite. i need to start venting here a little more amber-style!

aw, dave! you're killing me! no lyrics? come on.

today i had jay vincent in my toy store. he was the starting center for the 1979 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Champions (aka: msu spartans)

his diamond encrusted watch was the epitome of bling but it was nothing compared to the fabulous MSU Championship ring he was sporting.

this looks like an amazing project.

just when you thought the votes had all been counted...

make sure you cast your vote for our national tree. personally i voted for the good old maple cuz they are oh so pretty in the fall. b says maples make him think of canada but they are pretty nonetheless. i suppose redwoods would be a nice national tree... but i've never seen any so i'm on a maple crusade!

and, brian, while i'm on the subject: i was way wrong. maybe i'm not from michigan afterall?

i got an urgent e-mail from my favorite will on the planet who i have not kept well enough in touch with. i called to see what the fuss was about only to find out he's engaged! yay! how exciting

i can't sleep.

this hasn't been much of a problem lately since i haven't been taking classes and haven't had much in the way of obligations but it used to happen all the time. i think i have some sort or anxiety disorder. i usually keep myself too busy during the day for it to be a problem, but at night... i just lay there. thinking. all the stuff i need to do or should do or want to do comes dancing into my head. things i need to remember, things i'd like to forget.

i started sleeping with the radio or tv on because if i was thinking about the 'planets funniest animals' i wasn't thinking about how i was a complete failure and all the things i should be doing instead of trying to sleep. but it's hard to fall asleep when you're actively watching tv or listening to songs.

then i came up with the real winner. take a TS2 and call me in the morning. that's right... i watch animal planet til i'm tired enough to sleep then i pop in toy story 2 and drift off way before woody ever gets shelved. (come on people, work with me.) i've seen the movie 1,000 times so it's a no-brainer. paying attention to it doesn't keep my brain too awake yet it distracts me from reality just long enough to actually make my way to dreamland.

oh, and dreamland... that's a whole 'nother story. i have THE most messed up dreams lately. i should write them down as soon as i wake up so i can 'blog' them cuz man, you guys would love that!

eek! netscape 6.01 and blogger are fighting with eachother. this resulted in the disappointing loss of a fun link.

the lansing state journal (brian would call it the lansing state urinal if he lived here cuz he's one of those guys... hahah) had a cute article about the superstitions and pregame rituals of the spartan basketball team.

sadly, i have been unable to relocate the link since the article is now old news. the point is: everyone can go ahead and stop mocking my silly superstitions when it comes to basketball... clearly the boys would appreciate my efforts.

well, the big ten may have gotten off to a rocky start, but we've narrowed the field 75% and almost half the big ten teams are still alive so it's all good.

no, i'm lying. it's not all good. i miss the hawkeyes! oh, well... i guess i'll live.

surprises are wonderful. everyone loves surprises. what i hate is knowing i'm getting a surprise and not knowing what it is. the suspense kills me!

Saturday, March 17, 2001

so, the new computer is here and i'm getting used to new software, settings and even this crazy keyboard. i finally downloaded netscape 6.01 and it's WAY better than the previous versions. i mean, people's stylesheets are rendering correctly and what more could i ask for?

anyway, i just wanted to share. and say GO STATE!

Friday, March 16, 2001

yes, it's 6am but there was the most thought provoking movie on cinemax and i couldn't stop watching. i think it was called 'last night' and it was all about the end of the world. it just followed these different people through their last day on earth and it really was kind of twisted but wonderful. ah, human nature.

it just makes you think what you would do if you knew the world was going to end... what you'd want to accomplish before then and what you'd want to be doing at the very end.

for me... it wouldn't matter a lick what i was doing as long as i were with the right person/people. who that is changes from time to time... and it's not like it's a sexual or even romantic thing at all. i can't even explain why i would want to be around any specific person, but it has come up before and i always just know. sometimes i wonder if there is anyone out there who would just be content to be with me when everything ends.

anyway, i doubt i'll be able to get a lick of sleep tonight now...

mr. kessinger here (2001-3-15) cracks dim-witted jokes about me being a 'princess' and 'sorority girl' because i had wisconsin going to the final four. i think the term he was reaching for was 'big ten fan'.

it's all good... taken with a grain of salt from someone who had iowa state going to the final four... hahaha!

Thursday, March 15, 2001

well, my brackets just went straight to hell... i guess that's what i get for giving those nasty badgers another shot at the final four. ouch.

luckily i didn't have osu going past the second round anyway... hahahaha!

fyi: i have the bestest 'little brother' in the entire galaxy! thank you!! thank you!! thank you!! thank you!!! i LOOOOOOOOOOVE it!

exciting news, kids! i'm moving the weblog to galactichero.net. now as you can imagine that's going to require a little energy on my part... and even (gasp!) somewhat of a redesign.

the problem is i'm a little stumped on how i want this to work out and what kind of design i want to go after. anyway, something exciting to look forward to... sometime this millenium.

Wednesday, March 14, 2001

so the lovely ladies of phi mu were going out with the crazy kids of AKY (our greek week partners) for a little good old fashioned karaoke. -nothing like some sorority girls busting out with 'baby got back'

anyway, when i got there i handed the bouncer my ID which he proceeded to study for like 5 minutes before asking for a second piece of ID. this apparently was not good enough for him so i showed him my freakin credit card! later in the evening another bouncer came up to me (wearing my wristband like a good little girl) and asked to see my ID -what? did i steal someone elses wristband?

people! it's not like i'm 19, or 20, or even just 21. i'm TWENTY FIVE years old for crying out loud!

i guess i should be flattered. i may not act my age but i guess i act the age i look... or something.

happy un-birthday, brian!

Monday, March 12, 2001

in addition:

i would like a boy with whom i could be completely destitute... yet totally happy.

i would like a boy who would secretly wish it would rain on our outdoor wedding so we could stand together perfectly content in the rain watching our nicely dressed families scurry about like madmen.

and i would like a boy who appreciates me for my imperfections and quirks and is cool with the fact that i love his.

something brian will appreciate. (stolen from biz, cuz he's a genius)

oooh! elise is always outdoing herself. she's so damn quirky and comes up with the most nifty designs. i love love love those colors. i sure do miss that zesty weasel though...

something to keep you kids busy:

fyi: i changed up the weblog links on the left a little. i moved B up top cuz it was just too big a pain to scroll down to the bottom of the page to check his unupdated site 5 times a day... also i added myles cuz i visit his site all the time and i have no idea why i didn't link him in the first place... um... what else? oh, i even linked the (gasp) gator over there as well. i have to tell you half the time i could take or leave the content... but it's just so perdy to look at (in IE only though... boo). i think that's it. eh. who cares.

i'm mad at all of you because the only people who subscribed to my mailing list were people i basically talk to all the time anyway... the rest of you are seriously missing out... i promise. (maybe) anyway, the new computer should be here shortly... thank god.

Sunday, March 11, 2001

i think now would be a good time to mention my ncaa tournament philosphy before some one accuses me of hypocracy or even just simply covering my ass. hahhaa.

while no bigger spartan fan may exist, i'm also a true blue big ten fan. for example: on friday msu lost to penn state in the second round of the big ten tournament. this was a downer for like a minute... but then i thought, you know what? we already got *our* big ten championship banner and trophy and we *know* we're going to 'the big dance', i mean we were fighting for a number one seed for crying out loud. in fact, it was actually necessary for msu to lose on friday for the big ten to get 7 teams (the most of any conference) into the tournament that matters.

so my point is this: over the next few weeks you may find me cheering hard core for teams like the (buckeyes) -yes, even those nasty buckeyes. this doesn't mean i think msu rocks any less... it just means all you will be easier for us to beat in the long run... hahaha! or something like that.

anyway, i'm working out the brackets in my head and i have three big ten teams in the final four. even *i* know that won't happen... but you bet your ass there will be another two this year.

and speaking of brackets: kevin, you better believe i have a spartan/gator rematch. i'm sorry to say though that the outcome will be the same... again.

Wednesday, March 07, 2001

yeah! since my computer is on the fritz and my browsers aren't working, i have set up an e-mail list so i can continue to update you on my random thoughts and whatnot. this probably won't happen very often, and it'll only be another week or so til computer harmony is restored anyway...

if you want to be in the 'in-crowd' go ahead click here... then go ahead and hit send. make sure the message will be sent from the e-mail address at which you'd like to receive my tidbits of knowledge.

or just send a message with 'subscribe' as the subject to allstar-request@galactichero.net (this is, of course, exactly what the above link was for... but not everyone likes to send e-mail via netscape, aol, etc...)

wouldn't it be funny if i countered zenny's list at the bottom there... ok. maybe that'd just be mean... but the whole thing cracked me up anyway

because i sadly have nothing else to say i'll leave you with this: i may actually be madonna.

(find out what you are here.)

Sunday, March 04, 2001

yay!

Saturday, March 03, 2001

yeah! my own private shout-out in an e-mail from kevin's mailing list:

"special hello to my lone michigan state subscriber... thanks for the props on your site and the special "pretty good for a gator" a while back. just to let you know that we're 7 and you're 5 and there could be a rematch baby. hahhaha can't wait."

i feel so special! hahaha -of course, we're 3 and they're 6 this week. we'd love to have a rematch... spartans aren't afraid of gators.

now one should also note, i would've thanked him for that personal side-note on his own website, but his 'comments' function consistently crashes my browser. boo. hahahaha

wow.

there's just nothing like rushing the floor, high-fiving the players, bouncing up and down at center court while they unveil yet another championship banner...

plus, msu just said goodbye to the most accomplished senior class in big ten conference history. our seniors have had an amazing career here, and will surely be missed.

(now if only andre would follow me to orlando... i could learn to love the magic...)

this not having a functioning computer thing is killing me! my woahfully unupdated webpage here can't be very exciting for you folks. but we're working on that...
